Step 1: Identify the fragrance family
Floral: Rose, jasmine, white rose. For romantic and elegant women.
Oriental: Oud, amber, vanilla, resin. Warm and mysterious.
Woody: Cedar, sandalwood, vetiver. Earthy and sophisticated.
Fresh/Citrus: Bergamot, lemon, mint. Light and invigorating.
Step 2: Consider the season
Citrus and floral scents work best in spring/summer. Oriental and woody are perfect for fall/winter. Some fragrances like Baccarat Rouge 540 are "all-season".
Step 3: The occasion
Work: Light scents, not too intense. Evening: Oriental and intense. Casual: Whatever you personally enjoy.
